Religious Intolerance in Cilegon, Indonesia

The Cilegon region in Indonesia is the only region that does not have a place of worship other than a place of worship of Islam, non-Muslim communities numbering around 8,000 people compared to the number of Muslim communities which reaches more than 400 thousand people or 97% more.

The community and local officials oppose the establishment of places of worship other than mosques and mushollas, it is said that this happened because during the Dutch rule, it was forbidden to call to prayer (adzan), so then the scholars and the local community made an agreement with Krakatau Steel to only have mosques and mushollas as places of worship in Cilegon, but this is not in accordance with the regulations in the 1945 Constitution of the Indonesian people who are free to choose and embrace their respective beliefs, also not allowed to prohibit other people from worshiping.

This is certainly included in the intolerance that needs to be resolved, there must be tolerance so that there are no majorities and minorities in the unity of the Indonesian republic.

This is my civic discussion assignment, I found out that Cilegon does not have and does not allow the construction of other places of worship.
